What REALTORS® Experienced This Month
The Eastern Panhandle Board of REALTORS® (EPBR) had another impactful month, marked by strong community involvement, member-focused initiatives, and leadership engagement.
From record-breaking food drives to holiday giving programs and professional development opportunities, EPBR members continued to demonstrate the value of staying connected and involved.
Here was a breakdown of the key highlights.
A Strong Month for Community Service
Community service efforts stood out as one of the most impactful areas of activity.
Zion Church Meal Service
Members and volunteers came together to serve over 80 individuals at the Zion Church meal event. The effort included:
Preparing and serving meals
Supporting local residents in need
Strengthening EPBR’s presence in the community
The event reflected the organization’s ongoing commitment to giving back in meaningful ways.
Record-Breaking Food Drive
The annual food drive exceeded expectations, collecting more than 5,200 pounds of food across three locations:
Inwood
Falling Waters
Charles Town
This total more than doubled previous years’ efforts and highlighted the strong support from both members and the community.
Donations were distributed directly to local organizations, including:
Jefferson County Ministries
Loaves and Fishes
St. Leo’s Catholic Church Food Center
The initiative reinforced EPBR’s role in addressing real needs within the community.
Holiday Giving Initiatives Gained Momentum
As the holiday season approached, EPBR launched several initiatives aimed at supporting both the community and its own members.
Christmas for Kids Program
One of the largest efforts underway involved the Christmas for Kids program.
The initiative aimed to:
Provide shopping experiences for local children
Pair children with law enforcement officers for holiday shopping
Create meaningful experiences beyond just financial support
Through strong member participation, the program quickly gained traction, with fundraising efforts approaching a significant milestone.
Supporting Members in Need
In addition to community outreach, EPBR also focused inward by offering support to members facing financial challenges.
A Thanksgiving initiative was introduced to:
Provide meals for up to 10 families
Maintain strict confidentiality
Ensure members felt supported during difficult times
This effort reflected EPBR’s commitment not only to the public, but also to its own membership.
Rudolph Rendezvous: A Holiday Tradition
EPBR’s annual Rudolph Rendezvous returned as one of the final major events of the year.
The multi-day event included:
Office visits across Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan counties
Networking opportunities with REALTORS® and affiliates
Holiday-themed gatherings with food, decorations, and activities
Members who visited multiple offices were entered into drawings for prizes, adding an interactive element to the experience.
Beyond the incentives, the event provided a valuable opportunity to:
Build relationships across brokerages
Explore different office environments
Strengthen the sense of community within the organization
Looking Ahead: Professional Development and Leadership
As the year came to a close, EPBR leadership had already begun planning for the upcoming year.
Professional Development Day
Scheduled for early January, Professional Development Day was expected to provide:
Educational sessions
Industry insights
Opportunities to connect with vendors and peers
Members who attended similar events in the past noted the value of both the education and networking opportunities.
Installation Event and Leadership Transition
The annual installation event was set to recognize incoming leadership and board members.
The event included:
Installation of officers and directors
Networking and social opportunities
Fundraising components supporting industry-related causes
These events served as both a celebration of leadership and a kickoff for the year ahead.
Leadership Perspective: The Value of Getting Involved
A key theme throughout the discussion was the importance of member involvement—particularly at the leadership level.
Serving on the board provided:
Insight into decision-making processes
Opportunities to collaborate with professionals across different brokerages
A deeper understanding of how the organization operated
Members who stepped into leadership roles found value in both professional growth and personal development.
Why Engagement Mattered
Across every topic, community service, events, leadership—the same message remained clear:
The value of EPBR membership increased with participation.
Members who stayed involved:
Built stronger professional networks
Gained access to valuable insights and education
Contributed to meaningful community impact
Final Thoughts
The past month demonstrated the full scope of what EPBR offered its members.
It was not just about transactions or education, it was about:
Supporting the community
Strengthening relationships
Creating opportunities for growth
For REALTORS® who engaged with these initiatives, the impact extended well beyond individual events.
