What REALTORS® Experienced This Month
The Eastern Panhandle Board of REALTORS® (EPBR) had another active month filled with education, community involvement, and industry engagement.
From continuing education classes to major statewide events, members had multiple opportunities to grow professionally and stay connected. Here was a breakdown of what took place and what REALTORS® took away from it.
Continuing Education and Learning Opportunities
EPBR had offered several continuing education (CE) classes throughout the month, covering key topics such as:
Code of Ethics
Real estate contracts
Listing practices
These sessions created opportunities not only for required credit hours, but also for meaningful discussion and real-world learning experiences.
In addition, a Lunch and Learn session featuring the Berkeley County Health Department focused on septic systems, an area that many REALTORS® recognized as important but often complex.
For those who were unable to attend, the session had been recorded and made available through EPBR’s YouTube channel.
Community Events Continued to Be a Priority
EPBR maintained its focus on community involvement through several initiatives.
Zion Church Meal Service
Members participated in the Zion Church meal event, where volunteers:
Prepared and served food
Connected directly with community members
Continued EPBR’s commitment to local outreach
The event saw strong participation, with both food donations and volunteer slots filling quickly.
Food Drive Efforts
The upcoming food drive brought together volunteers across multiple locations, with coordination efforts led by EPBR members in different areas.
Past efforts had collected thousands of pounds of food, and the need for support remained especially important during the holiday season.
Educational Spotlight: Housing Assistance Program
An upcoming Lunch and Learn focused on the Housing Assistance Program (HAP), designed to support first-time homebuyers.
The program offered:
Financial assistance for qualifying buyers
Increased purchasing power
Opportunities for buyers who may have otherwise struggled to enter the market
Members recognized the importance of understanding these programs, especially as they could directly impact client success in competitive markets.
Holiday Giving and Community Impact
EPBR introduced a new initiative in partnership with the Fraternal Order of Police to support local children during the holiday season.
The goal had been to:
Sponsor 50 children
Provide funds for holiday shopping experiences
Allow children to shop alongside local law enforcement officers
Early fundraising efforts had already gained momentum, demonstrating strong member support for community-focused initiatives.
Rudolph Rendezvous: A Growing Tradition
The annual Rudolph Rendezvous event returned for another year, bringing together brokerages across multiple counties.
The event included:
Office-hosted gatherings with themed decorations
Food, refreshments, and networking opportunities
A final mixer event at the EPBR office
This multi-day event continued to serve as a way for REALTORS® and affiliates to connect in a more relaxed, social environment while celebrating the holiday season.
Encouraging Member Involvement
As the year progressed, EPBR leadership emphasized the importance of member participation in committees.
Members were encouraged to:
Attend committee meetings
Explore different areas of involvement
Share ideas and feedback
The message was clear: the strength of the organization depended on active member engagement.
West Virginia REALTORS® Convention: Key Takeaways
A major highlight of the month had been the West Virginia REALTORS® Convention, which brought together professionals from across the state.
Collaboration and Industry Unity
The central theme of the convention focused on unity within the industry, reinforcing the importance of collaboration at the local, state, and national levels.
Attendees noted the value of:
Connecting with REALTORS® from other regions
Sharing ideas and strategies
Strengthening professional relationships
Flexible Learning and Networking Opportunities
Unlike more rigid professional events, the convention offered flexibility, allowing attendees to:
Choose sessions based on their interests
Engage with vendors and tools at the trade show
Participate in both educational and social events
This structure made it easier for members to tailor the experience to their individual goals.
Exposure to Industry Leadership
The convention also featured strong representation from national leadership, providing attendees with insight into broader industry trends and priorities.
This reinforced the connection between local REALTORS® and the larger real estate community.
Recognition and Leadership
One of the standout moments from the convention had been the recognition of EPBR leadership.
Angela Whitehead was named West Virginia REALTOR® of the Year, an honor that reflected both her individual contributions and the strength of the EPBR community as a whole.
The recognition highlighted the impact of leadership, service, and dedication within the organization.
The Value of Professional Engagement
A consistent theme throughout the month had been the importance of staying engaged within the profession.
Whether through:
Continuing education
Community service
State-level events
Committee involvement
REALTORS® who participated gained more than just knowledge—they built relationships, strengthened their networks, and positioned themselves for long-term success.
Final Thoughts
The past month demonstrated how EPBR continued to serve as more than just a professional association.
It functioned as:
A learning hub
A community partner
A networking platform
A leadership pipeline
For REALTORS® who took advantage of these opportunities, the value extended well beyond a single event or class.
