Enhancing Member Engagement
To foster a thriving real estate community, we must deliver high-value benefits and services to our members. This includes championing inclusive, accessible networking events and educational opportunities. We aim to create opportunities for active member engagement while providing essential support to association members. Our goal is to enhance member engagement, satisfaction, and growth.
We oversee the delivery of member services, including education and networking. It is crucial to foster meaningful connections and provide ongoing support throughout every stage of our members’ careers. We strive to be friendly, respectful, and accessible to all members. Our mission is to promote EPBR by providing leadership, education, technology, and support to our members.
Community Impact and Advocacy
Our commitment extends beyond our members to the community at large. We lead charitable and outreach efforts that align with the Association’s mission. By amplifying the REALTOR® brand at the local level, we serve as a visible and respected liaison among members, the public, and partner organizations.
Building relationships with community organizations is vital. We advocate for housing, real estate professionals, private property rights, and sound local policies. Fully engaging with the community is essential. We interact with nonprofits, attend government meetings, and participate in community events and festivals. As one of the largest professional associations in the Eastern Panhandle, we aim to create, foster, and strengthen relationships with local government, military, education, healthcare, and residential and construction communities.
Becoming familiar with all individuals and groups involved with EPBR is a priority. This familiarity allows us to better serve our members and the community.
Upholding Professional Standards
We uphold and promote the Code of Ethics, Fair Housing, and Professional Standards. Supporting continuing education, designations, and specialty certifications is essential for our members' growth. We foster and lead efforts to build a culture grounded in excellence and accountability.
Advocacy for Housing and Economic Development
Advocacy is a cornerstone of our mission. We advance housing availability, fair housing initiatives, and economic development. Encouraging member investment in RPAC and engagement in advocacy programs is crucial. We support the Association’s Local, State, and Federal Political Coordinators (LPCs, SPCs, and FPCs) in their advocacy and community efforts.
Moreover, we support and promote state and national REALTOR® charitable endeavors, such as NAR’s REALTOR® Relief Fund (RRF). This commitment ensures that we are not only advocating for our members but also for the communities we serve.
Leadership and Organizational Health
Strengthening our Association's leadership is vital. We focus on staff development and committee collaboration. Supporting Board engagement and leadership development initiatives is part of our strategy.
We manage staffing capacity and succession planning to ensure continuity. Financial sustainability and transparency are paramount. We maintain an organized, professional office environment and oversee administrative operations, including staff, office equipment, databases, and property.
Fostering a healthy, inspirational, and effective work environment for EPBR staff is essential for achieving our goals.
Operational and Governance Duties
As the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, I implement strategic directives, monitor metrics, and provide transparent reporting. Executing financial operations—including budgeting, forecasting, and compliance—is done as directed by the Board.
I represent EPBR at key local, state, and national REALTOR® events. Effective communication with the Board is crucial. I ensure they are informed on operations, compliance, and industry updates. Collaborating with the Board President on media inquiries and messaging is also part of my role.
I respond professionally to inquiries from members, the public, and media. Executing contracts as authorized by the Board of Directors is a responsibility I take seriously. Additionally, I prepare and submit NAR compliance documentation as required. Supporting the Board President with timely reporting and meeting materials is essential for effective governance.
Qualifications for Success
To succeed in this role, candidates should have paid nonprofit leadership or REALTOR® association leadership experience. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent leadership experience is preferred. A background in strategic planning, financial management, and advocacy is essential.
Familiarity with the real estate industry is advantageous. Excellent communication and change-management skills are necessary. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is vital for fostering a welcoming environment.
Knowledge of association governance, financial management, and program development is important. Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and membership-management software is required. The ability to work independently and under pressure while maintaining high professional and ethical standards is crucial.
Willingness to travel to state and national events as required is expected. Candidates should also be able to align day-to-day operations with EPBR’s long-term vision and Strategic Plan. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to engage members and speak publicly. Obtaining REALTOR® Association Certified Executive (RCE) status within two years of hire is a requirement.
